In this newly published episode of the Local Futures podcast, Helena Norberg-Hodge talks to the renowned Dr. Gabor Maté. The two dispel false ideas about human nature and analyze the ways macro-level economic structures are impacting our personal identities. Thank you so much for this. As a middle-aged artist, advocate for survivors of incest abuse and organic allotmenteer, nowadays people either shun me or say to my face that my skills have no value in this world, but to those who get me I feel a deep, meaningful connection which makes me very happy and excited. I’ve never felt the need to compete with others because I’ve been through so much trauma and have had to work on myself so hard just to be able to walk down the street. It’s given me a sense of what’s important to me and an appreciation of nature and beauty that I’m profoundly grateful for.
